Santosh Vishwanathan, Intel Indonesia’s New Country Manager

At Kembang Goela restaurant (Jakarta), on February, 24, Intel Indonesia introduced their new Country Manager, Santosh Vishwanathan. Vishwanathan is not a newcomer in Intel, he was previously their Regional Business Manager – Asia Pacific and Distribution Business Manager – India and South Asia. He finished his entire Techinical and management related education in India. Previously Budi Wahyu Jati was Intel Indonesia’s Country Manager since 2002.

Vishwanathan was appointed as Country Manager since Oktober 2010. As Country Manager, he is obliged to manage Intel Indonesia’s entire operation and also increase Intel’s business through distribution channel, local and multinational OEM in Indonesia. Vishwanathan will be focusing on producing strategic cooperation, both with government and other players in this ecosystem, to assist to adopt technology nationally in Indonesia including market expansion policy to increase local consumption.

Vishwanathan said he won’t bring too much change in Intel’s policy. He said, Intel is focusing on working on tablet and smart phone market, by still leading on PC and netbook segment (and notebook of course). Intel at the moment is still lagging compared to Qualcomm or NVIDIA to power gadget such as tablet or smart phone, because a project code named Medfield is reportedly to be available by the end of 2011. Medfield was introduced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona using core 32 nm and is promised to be able to enhance battery’s endurance work three without reducing processor’s performance.

It will be worth the wait if there’s any local vendor who’s willing to create tablet or smart phone using Intel’s processor. Other than strengthening their products’ positioning, Intel Indonesia will also continue their social projects related with educating teachers’ Information and Technology industry.
