Intel Unveils Second Generation Core Processors in Indonesia

Located on Level 7 fCone fX Senayan Jakarta, Intel Indonesia introduced a line of its newest processor that is a part of the second generation Core processors family. Using a name code Sandy Bridge, this processor family is technically using a 32-nm process technology, which is the distance between a transistor to another. There are new series of Core i3, i5, and i7 which are focused on helping users overall productivity, particularly for those related to multimedia.

The event began with a welcome speech from Debjani Ghosh, director of Intel Southeast Asia. He said that Indonesia is one of the PC market with the most rapid growth in the world. Of course, other than those related to productivity, mostly the use of PC is also connected to the Internet. Based on the survey that 40% of Internet consumption is related to multimedia, but we know that the Internet connection in Indonesia generally is not very fast.

We all also know the "tremendous" statistics of Indonesia in the social media realm, like Facebook, Twitter, or Foursquare. But that it certainly does not really matter for us if the equipment we use is not well-rounded or able to accommodate all the needs with a qualified performance. This is actually what the Indonesian market of computer users mostly sought and here is where the second-generation Core processor technology comes to bridge all the needs.

In general, second-generation Core processors have the capabilities far better than the previous generation (Nehalem). Intel claims that this latest generation has up to 42 percent faster performance for content creation and up to 50 percent for the game activities (gaming). There are nearly 1 billion transistors - about 995 million exactly - in this second generation Core processors. The advantage of this second-generation Core processor is the already integrated graphics system. Especially for second-generation Core i5 and i7, there is Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology which adds several GHz speed when needed. You may be familiar with the term overclocking.

Santhosh Vishwanathan, Chief Representative Intel Indonesia Corp said that the second-generation family of processors from Intel Core is a technological leap for Intel this year. The presence of integrated graphics processor in the processor chip enables more intelligent and adaptive visual performance when compared with the previous generation.

From a number of demos that are displayed and a number of testimonials from the local game designers and graphic designers, the truth is that the performance of this latest processor is actually remarkable. According to the developers of Nusantara Online, there is no difficulty during games rendering or video processing, even when using a notebook. There are also performances of the latest Intel technologies such as set top box that support 3D video appearance on TV with high quality or Intel Wireless Display technology using the TV Adapter Netgear which allows streaming wirelessly with a computer and displayed in High Definition on TV.

Despite all that. this second-generation Core processors are not without problems. Previously there was discovered a design flaw of some early-generation Sandy Bridge technology users chipset products that resulted in the withdrawal of a number of products. Since last February 14th, Intel had shipped its revision edition chipsets (B3). Also, it is interesting to review that in the latest Apple MacBook Pro series which are already using this second generation processor, Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 function is disabled. Speculation said this feature could cause an excessive heat. Of course, Intel has been working with related stakeholders to identify and resolve the cause.

As a closing, it is no exaggeration to mention that this second-generation Core processors is a big step for Intel to established itself as the largest and best manufacturer of processors, in Indonesia and the world. We are waiting for Intel to go further, not only played on the PC segment, but also begin to enter the attractive mobile market. Moreover, the mobile growth is now officially higher than the PC. Intel certainly will not stay silent about this potential niche.
