Payment Processor Doku Aims for 50% Growth Until End of 2014

Online payment platform Doku announced that its service has reached thousands of merchants which comprise of not just major corporations but also small to medium businesses (SMB). Doku saw total transactions during 2013 reach Rp 5 trillion (USD 420 million) and it is aiming for a 40 to 50 percent growth this year.

Doku has established itself as an online payment service provider that has contributed to the growth of the e-commerce industry in Indonesia as proven by its achievements until the first quarter of this year. It claims to have partnered with over 2000 merchants of various kinds including SMB.

One of its products, Doku MyShortCart, has played an important role in accommodating the need for online payment for small to medium businesses. Doku MyShortCart itself is a solution for merchants to more easily reach consumers through correspondence and social media.

While the company did not reveal its figures, Doku MyShortCart no doubt contributed to help push Doku to reach Rp 5 trillion worth of transactions throughout 2013. With 80,000 active users in the 18-35 year old demographic, Doku Wallet also played a part in Doku's growth.

Additionally, Doku Wallet, which is available as a mobile app for Android, received a number of new features such as fund transfers between users, electronic voucher purchase, and bill payments. Based on these features and achievements, Doku is aiming to reach 40-50% growth of business between now and the end of the year.

“Our achievement in the first semester of 2014 reflects the merchants’ trust towards Doku’s solution, which also indicates the increase of the understanding of Indonesian people on the advantages of e-commerce toward their business growth,” Himelda Rinuat, Doku’s Chief Marketing Officer, stated during her press release.

The target Doku sets should not be that hard to achieve. Some strategies used by Doku are by partnering with Alfamart retail network, Air Asia Flight Company, and other companies.

Doku itself has released a complete list of its latest corporation partners in 2014, including Citilink, Lorena, Air Asia, Sinarmas Land, Electronic City, Oppo Smartphone, Indonesian Idol, Indonesia’s Got Talent, Viva Group, Domikado, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and Air Nugini.

“From electronic payment point of view, currently Doku is considered to have the most complete variants,” Himelda added.
