Bouncity for iPhone is Finally Out

Who is still interested or excited about Bouncity? After it was first released in June 2011 for BlackBerry, released for Android in November, and previewed for the iPhone in July, the iPhone app for Bouncity is finally out on the App Store today.

While Bouncity for iPhone had been long awaited, it's uncertain if people are still interested in signing up or getting involved in the game. It has been eight months almost to the day since Bouncity was launched yet there's been little to no word from as to the traction and adoption of it by Indonesians.

The location-based scene hasn't been very exciting this year for local players. PersonaFlag has been deadpooled having no update since almost a year ago, Koprol is… well, what's going on with Koprol anyway?

Are people still checking in to gain rewards? Would actual physical rewards be more interesting than badges? Foursquare may still be king of check-ins but it doesn't look like the excitement is there anymore.

One way to tell if Foursquare is still widely used is by seeing how many of your friends are spamming your Twitter timeline with Foursquare checkins, and lately, there hasn't been as many. Perhaps people are starting to be sensible about sharing check-ins or perhaps they're just not checking in anymore. On the other hand, links to Path have been very visible on Twitter, thought not necessarily about locations.

How about Bouncity? Honestly there hasn't been any Bouncity links on my Twitter stream in months. Perhaps it will pick up after the launch of the iPhone app, no doubt due to curiosity, but will it have the traction to keep up? Will iPhone users be more interested in Bouncity than BlackBerry or Android users? That's something we'll try and monitor in the next month or so.

The latest Bouncity check in on my nearest McDonald's outlet was 45 days ago. before that, 66, and before that, 83. That McDonald's outlet is very popular and it's almost always full, so it's not like people weren't showing up, but they don't seem to be using Bouncity there.

The app itself is meticulously hand crafted, beautifully designed, very clean with nice animation effects. Unfortunately it has crashed twice on my 3GS running 5.0.1 since it was installed just under an hour ago.

In the mean time, if you want to check out Bouncity on iPhone, head to the App Store where you can download it for free. It requires iOS 4.2.1

[update] Damn thing crashes all the time when loading My Profile and Activities. Out you go.
