Buzzle Mall Gets Third Place in Ericsson Application Awards (EAA) 2012

Buzzle Mall, an application made by PT. Buzzle Indonesia, placed third in Ericsson Application Award (EAA) 2012 for company category. In the competition held by Ericsson in cooperation with Sony, PT. Buzzle Indonesia is eligible for prizes worth 5.000 Euro.

Ericsson Application Awards is a competition for students and small firms (less than 100 employees) to create an Adroid application using a t least one Ericsson Labs API. This year, the competition chose the theme “Apps for the Networked Society” with the aim of promoting innovation from a variety of environments, places, situations and so on and to connect people, objects and places to empower individuals and communities.

In this global competition, Buzzle Mall is the only participant from Southeast Asia and Oceania region to qualify for the semifinal. Although eventually eliminated by the application from Kenya and Nabda Care from Egypt that made it to the final of this competition for company category, Buzzle Mall should be proud because this is the first time participant from Southeast Asia and Oceania won an award in the four times of this competition’s organized.

Game Netwoking Jakarta, A Chance to Build a Network with Game Publisher from Japan

Nikkei Business Publication, Inc. (NBP), will hold a Game Networking Jakarta. This business matching event will bring together large game publisher and mobile game publisher from Japan with potential business partner candidates from Indonesia.

Game Networking Jakarta event will be held on May 28 at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta. A couple of big game publishers are brought to this event such as GREE, Konami, Sega, One Up, f4samurai, GMOAppsCloud and Aiming. Although GREE is the only one which has confirmed its agenda so far, the event will be a golden opportunity for game developers from Indonesia to meet and build network with big developers from Japan.

The event that will be started at 10.30 AM, will be preceded by a conference by representatives from Sega and Konami with an agenda that has not been announced. After that, GREE, through its Vice President of Business Development Department, Kobayashi Noritaka, will explain the theme of a new social mobile global platform. In the evening, Bullitt Sesariza, founder and CTO of Kark Mobile Education PTE, Ltd as well as Chairman of PT. Logika Interaktif, will be a representative from Indonesia to talk about game industry in Indonesia.

Steve Wozniak To Visit Jakarta

In July 17, 2012, Jakarta will welcome a special guest, Steve Wozniak. This first Apple employee who is now a technology observer will be one of performers in the Innovation & Creativity seminar. This will be a rare opportunity for Indonesian people to meet directly with one of the world’s most important figures in the world of technology. Wozniak’s creativity and experience will be invaluable to learn from.

Wozniak is known as the co-founder of Apple together with Steve Jobs. Although no longer related to Apple in addition to being one of the shareholders, people will always associate him with Apple. Wozniak himself, aside from being Apple’s products’ fan is also a fan of other gadgets and whole-heartedly pay attention to technological development.

Wozniak is also known as an eccentric. Recently, Wozniak praised Windows Phone by calling it “beautiful”. Wozniak added that, even though his favorite phone is the iPhone, Windows Phone reminded him of several great things done by Apple.

ITB Team Heads to GSMA Mobile Health University Challenge

An app called Maternal and Neonatal mobile Services created by a team from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has managed to become a finalist in the GSMA Mobile Health University Challenge, held by The Berkeley Mobile International Collaborative (MBIC). Two members of the team will present during the final stage at the GSMA-mHealth Alliance Mobile Health Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, between 29 May – 1 June.

Mobile Health Summit is an event held by GSMA and mHealth Alliance, two major organizations in the field of mobile and health industries. This event will discuss about several issues regarding mobile health as well as the latest innovations and products.

Wikimedia Holding Another Javanese Writing Competition

Wikimedia is holding yet another Javanese Wikimedia writing competition, titled Papat Limpad, which means Four Champions. The competition is intended to increase and enrich Wikipedia content in Javanese. This project is being held in collaboration with six universities that run Javanese language programs, namely IKIP PGRI Semarang, Gajah Mada University (UGM), University of Indonesia (UI), Diponegoro University (Undip), Semarang State University (Unnes) and Yogyakarta State University (UNY).

The 2012 Papat Limpad competition is being held for one year beginning 7th of May 2012 until paril 2013. During the competition, the 150 participants from six universities are required to publish articles for Wikipedia in Javanese language. The articles must use the encyclopedic style of writing and conform to the Javanese linguistic traits. Works and activities by the participants will be judged by a panel of judges which comprises of members of the organizer, Unnes lecturers, as well as representatives of the Javanese Wikipedia community.

GameSaku announces partnership with Apps Foundry. It is carried out in  form of Apps Foundry’s investment at GameSaku with undisclosed amount.

GameSaku is a mobile gaming blog, focuses on iOS platform (iPhone, iPod and iPad). It was previously known as RumahApp. GameSaku discusses various games in iOS, also reviews and writes about news on gaming industry. Apps Foundry, in other hand, is an application development company that develops SCOOP Newsstand. Apps Foundry is one of East Ventures’ portfolio that already received further funding from Gobi Partners and Mitsui Global Investment (MGI).

UrbanIndo Receives Funding from East Ventures, Ready for Marketing and Research Program

Another investment is scored by local service. UrbanIndo receives Series A funding from East Ventures (EV). The official announcement will be released this afternoon. As part of the deal, Chandra Tjan from East Ventures will be joining UrbanIndo’s board of director. The amount of investment is not disclosed.

UrbanIndo itself is a property site which give benefit on users who would like to buy, rent, or sell their properties. The site tries to ease users and gives new experience on finding the right property. Indigo Fellowship 2012 Officially Launched

Located at Bandung Digital Valley, last Friday, Telkom Group, along with MIKTI, officially launched Indigo Fellowship 2012 program which enter its fifth year of implementation.

Bringing the theme “For Brighter Digital Creativepreneur”, this year’s Indigo Fellowshop will focus on growing entrepreneurs. As described by Hari S. Sungkari – chairman of the judges, this is what distinguishes the event from last year’s event. The theme will also affect the assessment process to determine the winner.

12 winners will be selected for the Indigo 2012, with 3 winners for each 4 different categories.
